Recorded and produced at Big Sky Audio in Melbourne, Australia by Jacob Aedam and engineered by James Freeman (I Know The Chief / Slowcoaching), ‘Tape Breaks’ has been created with the vinyl digger in mind. Paying homage to drummers like Jaki Liebezeit, Klaus Dinger, Randy Seol & Chris ‘Daddy’ Dave, ’Tape Breaks’ is perfect for those who are always on the hunt for new crunchy drum breaks, gritty percussion elements and vintage rhythms to drop into their hip hop, psychedelic or spaghetti western arrangements.Play Audio
Multiple drum kits are included, all comprised of multiple drum setups and recorded through a 38 channel MCI 500 series recording console (manufactured in 1978!). The classic sound of the MCI transformers ins/outs are quite literally saturated over every groove in the pack. Various outboard gear was used to time warp these samples straight back into the 1970s. This includes a Toshiba GT 810S Reel to Reel tape machine, UBK Fatso, EL8-X Distressor, Boss SP-303 and an Evans EP-150 Analogue Echo Reverb. The kits were recorded in a ‘live’ room and ‘dry’ room with a vintage mic set up.
