Brief:

Find a single object, material, or ‘thing’ that you think makes cool sounds. Record sounds from this object in any way you like. Manipulate sounds in any way you like. Create 2 minute track using ONLY these sounds. Done!

Soundcloud don’t need much of an introduction, but as we’re sure you are aware they have become an invaluable resource for music producers and provide a fantastic platform where dj’s, music producers and artists can share their work.

Rules:

- Only one entry per person, although you may replace the audio file in your Soundcloud submission up until the contest deadline.

- Please label your files: ‘Trackname_Soundsource_YourName’ eg ‘SkyLasers_WoodenCupboard_GaryBarlow.’ If possible, write a short comment at the beginning of your track and explain how you created the sounds.

- We will shortlist 10 entries for the final. If you are selected, we will ask you to provide us with the raw audio that you recorded from your sound source, as well as the techniques you used in post production. This is to ensure that the brief has been followed correctly and no external sounds have been used.

- Only use one object to record sounds from…if in doubt, drop us an email.

- Please don’t use a musical instrument, be creative!

- You can manipulate the sounds however you like, but please don’t use external samples or synthesizers.

- Entries must be received by the 31st August 2012, 23.59 GMT.
